It wasn’t until after I sinned this week that I realized how very real Satan is.
In my Christian Doctrine class this past week we were required to turn in a 10-12 paper discussing any theology/Doctrine. Not wishing to go along with the crowd, I picked the origin/existence of Satan. Admittedly, I did wait till the last minute before I started the paper and did not put my best effort into it. However, the paper was incredibly beneficial for my own knowledge of Ha-Satan (Or for the not Hebrew- “Satan”). The Bible never tells us about the origin of Satan, most of our ideas about the ole devil come from the miss-usage of Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28, and classic literature such as “Paradise Lost”, and “Dantes Inferno”.
I was shocked at the lack of evidence discussing Satan’s existence in the Old Testament, especially compared to the abundance of scripture dealing with Satan in the New Testament. But enough about me, here’s what I learned. The NT account of Satan still proves true today. Satan does gird himself as an “Angel of Light”, and seeks to devour the children of God. However, he is an extremely intelligent being, and knows that the best way to accomplish his goals is through temptation.
In short, to argue with the existence of Satan is to allow that temptation into your heart. That’s what he wants you to think.
Sorry for the odd topic, God Bless.
